PERSONAL MYTHOLOGY AND FLOATING MECHANISMS<\/strong><\/p>\n Following his rupture with “academic” art, which was accompanied by his departure from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Hiquily became more independent in the evolution of his sculpting practice. Hiquily remains very demanding of his artistic practice, and wishes to explore sculpture beyond the density of figurative classes that made up his early work. He seeks to infuse his sculptures with more lightness and instability in order to escape an overly present frontality.<\/p>\n By discovering Calder’s sculptures, it becomes obvious to him that one of the great pleasures of the composition of sculptures is to “make sculpture in space that move and find their own balance”.
