Loft Gallery presents the latest unseen works by Arx Lee (Li Chaoxiong). The photos were taken in his studio in Guangzhou. With each new series of works, the artist weaves the tapestry of an imaginary story whose details, forms, and characters come to life as the painting progresses. Arx Lee, whose real name is Li Chaoxiong, was born in 1978 in Zhongshan, in the province of Guangdong. He graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2002 but has already been exhibiting since 1996 in several fairs and galleries, notably in Guangzhou and Beijing.<\/p>\n

Li Chaoxiong is the author of two particularly poetic and introspective graphic novels, the latest of which, “BudaPest,” was published and exhibited at the Loft Gallery in 2010. Li Chaoxiong imbues his creations and characters with his own personality and his most intimate reflections; his soul is drawn in his works.<\/p>\n

Having grown up immersed in the world of superheroes, animation, and illustration, Li Chaoxiong developed his style across various artistic disciplines, including painting, illustration, design, sculpture, and photography. Mastering both the conventions of literary storytelling and the art of visual and digital composition, the artist has cultivated a unique visual language composed of singular figures and scenes, making him a leading figure among the young Chinese generation.<\/p>\n
