Mun-Gi Yang was born in 1970 in Gwangju, South Korea. He graduated from Chosun University with a degree in Fine Arts. In 2012, the artist-sculptor presented Story of Luxury Stone at the Okgwa Museum of Art in South Korea. This exhibition revealed the particular attention he pays to the meaning and symbolism of the luxury bag by exploiting the aesthetic potential of stone. These Luxury Stones, although initially appearing as parody works of Chinese counterfeits of bags from major brands such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel, go far beyond a simple imitation or representation of these objects.

Mun-Gi Yang est né en 1970 à Gwangju en Corée du Sud. Il est diplômé des Beaux-Arts à l’université de Chosun. En 2012, l’artiste-sculpteur a présenté Story of LUXURY STONE (histoire de la pierre de luxe) au Musée d’art d'Okgwa, en Corée du Sud. Cette exposition révélait l’attention toute particulière qu’il porte à la signification et au symbolisme du sac de luxe en exploitant les potentialités esthétiques de la pierre. Ces Luxury stones, bien qu’apparaissant dans un premier temps comme des œuvres parodiques sur les contrefaçons chinoises des sacs de grandes marques telles que Louis Vuitton ou Chanel, vont bien au-delà d’une simple imitation ou représentation des ces objets.
