Always attentive to the incredible talent of the younger generation of Chinese artists, the Paris-based Galerie LOFT chose, starting in March 2010, to present new works by the artist Chen Man.
This young photographer, a true icon of the fashion world in China as well as internationally, now offers us a richer and more complex perspective on the world— one that moves beyond the clichés of the fashion universe.
Through her unique aesthetic, she now explores contemporary themes that allow her to analyze our societies from within. After reinventing the female body from the most refined lines (in the Back series) to the most kitsch (such as the "Mickeys" in the Book series), she now uses it as a medium for reflection on pollution, which increasingly imposes itself upon us, both physically and spiritually.
It gradually invades our bodies and our souls, transforming the woman of the 21st century into a hybrid and unsettling creature.
