Two galleries with two artists— “L’art contemporain Iranien à la croisée des mondes”

Off-site

As always, true change is accompanied by those who bring the gallery to life. Artists and gallery owners, art market professionals and collectors, photographers, journalists, family and friends, colleagues and art lovers, you are all invited to join us for the inauguration of our new exhibition space at 4 rue des Beaux-Arts to share this new chapter in the history of the LOFT gallery.

At the crossroads

For over 30 years, the LOFT gallery has been dedicated to presenting and championing young artists from around the world.

Parisian graffiti artists whose urban works took over the gallery before spilling beyond its walls.

Performance photographers from Beijing’s East Village and Chinese sculptors whose iconic figures would sweep across the Western world, like Sui Jianguo’s “Made in China” Dinosaur.

Immense 12-meter-high Hiquilyen weather vanes that enriched the urban landscape of Shanghai during the 2010 World Expo.

Major international sculptors who would scatter their monumental works across the Moroccan desert.

Painters, sculptors, photographers, urban artists, designers, videographers… a whole panorama of artists from all corners of the globe, most of them emerging talents when they first entered the LOFT Gallery.

Poets and aesthetes, but also bon vivants. A great deal of passion, shared projects, from organizing large-scale exhibitions like Paris-Beijing to installing Hiquily’s monumental sculptures in the Place Saint-Sulpice and Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés to coincide with the release of the artist’s catalogue raisonné, editions of works and reference books… and always the same desire.

To support these artists by undertaking genuine in-depth work, but also to promote their work as effectively as possible by offering them new opportunities to showcase their art.

And today, the LOFT Gallery has chosen to take on a new challenge.

Opening a new space, exploring new horizons, while preserving our identity and our commitment to supporting young artists—here we are… at a crossroads.

On this occasion, we will be presenting two Iranian artists, also in their thirties, whose works perfectly illustrate the issues of transformation in an era, a society, a country undergoing rapid economic, social, and historical evolution. Rich in both a millennia-old history and a mixed culture, these works, in turn, stand at a crossroads. Between gentle nostalgia and fierce modernity, they compelled us to express the desire to discover and share, as if to better invite us to encounter…
