In order to properly celebrate this great artist, Galerie Loft is organizing an exhibition of monumental sculptures on the forecourts of the two emblematic churches of the district. La Marathonienne and L'Épicurienne will face off from a height of five meters in a sensual dialogue on the Place Saint-Germain-Des-Près, while the Place Saint-Sulpice will host the poetic and airy dance of the 3.5-meter-high weathervanes Marbella Shanghai While the weathervanes Marbella Shanghai and La Marathonienne have already been presented in monumental formats—the former in Marbella (Spain) in 1963 and later in Shanghai (China) in 2010, and the latter in Vitry-sur-Seine (France) since 1988—this marks a first for L'Épicurienne.
Revealing their curves in a charming and subtly erotic-face off, the two sculptures offer viewers a captivating spectacle. Clad only in their own allure without modesty or voyeurism, in the manner so characteristic of Philippe Hiquily, they present themselves to passersby, overlooking Saint-Germain-des-Près and asserting both the genius and technical mastery of their creator. Two sets of three weathervanes will take over Place Saint-Sulpice, encircling the fountain and bringing the elements into harmony, the musicality of the wind blending with the murmurs of waters.
